Jetpacks

June 21, 2011

The average human brain has as much processing power as every computer in the world combined.  And it uses about as much electricity as a light bulb.  We have blocks on our brain to help us only receive and process the information that we need for living and functioning.  There are even theories that some forms of autism are due to those limitations not being there, and people are being constantly bombarded with useless information, crippling their ability to extract anything relevant from their senses.

I wonder if it would ever be possible to control the degree to which our brains function.  Like turn it on when you need to remember a bunch of stuff real quick or handle many sensory inputs at once, then turn it off when there’s something in particular you don’t want to remember.  That would be amazing for victims of a violent crime or people with PTSD.

Turns out the mysterious meeting on Wednesday is some HR town hall BS.  That doesn’t totally rule out jetpacks though.

If nothing else, I’m gonna use my midlife crisis to fly some dangerous aircraft.  Maybe when I’m 50 they’ll have something even cooler.
